MOH (Man Of the House) is busy making our wedding boxes to put cards and ang pow for our wedding. Can’t wait to show you. I was going to use that for our DIY Thursday Madness but unfortunately we are unable to finish it on time as we have hit a slight snag in the DIY process. But never fear, instead of sharing with you our poor DIY skills. I’ll instead share with you some of the things that inspired us to make our own wedding box.
Check out the bad ass wedding robot box. I want one too!
Wedding plans going ahead! I’m behind with the printing of my invitations so might have to *gasp sent out electronic invitations to those who do not reside in Malaysia . This has in turn dragged out the planning for the sitting arrangements which every couple fears, abhors, dislikes, rather swallow a rattlesnake kind of task. Like everything else when I am confronted by such a daunting task I procrastinate.
Anyhoo, leaving all the unpleasantess aside see what I’ve found!!! Pretty necklaces! I like em big and I like em loud. Been thinking about what jewellry to wear for my wedding ceremony and reception. I find that I am very partial to big and bold items especially the necklaces. Click on the photos to see where I found them.
Since we are on the topic of necklaces I thought what the heck why don’t we go for DIY necklaces and bibs?
Freaking fabulous DIY bib! You must click on it to see how the clever lady made it.
Be prepared for a lot of photos, hard work and family togetherness! I had an idea to make the wedding favours you are about to see and my family have gone above and beyond by helping me out with what has become a big project. They had to make 300 of these, massive project I tell you.
Lets get started!
1st part, you need the following raw materials:
Wooden base of 2.5 ft x 1.5 ft in size with ready-made holes in middle (provided by Aunty Epeen & Uncle Ahloy FOC)
Wood paint base
White paint
Blue paint
Paint Thinner
Few paint brushes,
Ruler, marker pens,
Sack
Wire (size that could be twisted)
Tools such as furniture stapler, staple refills, hammer, wire cutter, screw driver, round long wood to shape the wire (made by Aunty Epeen), scissors, dry fast glue, dunlop glue and other miscellaneous tools
Fishes, doggies and guitars
2nd part, prepare the base first as follows:
Paint the wood base with base paint and dry
Paint with white paint and dry
Draw lines on painted white wood base
Paint blue on alternate lines and dry
Glue on sack material on side of wood base with dunlop glue, cut to shape and dry
3rd part
Cut wire to desired length,
Paint white and dry
Twist wire to desired design
Twist or insert or hammer in or stapled onto either the fish, doggie or guitars
Glue on to avoid shakiness
Insert the wire into the finished wood base
Touch up on wherever required i.e. peeling paint from twisted wire, wood or the fishes.
Waahlaaa…the finished product.
Once you get the hang of it you can do all sorts of name holders. Besides the colourful tropical fishes they also made some dogs and guitar name holders which is to my wedding theme! How cute is this???
I got this off a friends Facebook status and just fell in love with how in love the groom and bride looked with each other. The video was stylishly shot! Sigh~
Hey hey, I haven’t forgotten about DIY Thursdays! I wanted to show you what my family members have been up to but I am still waiting for ALL the photos to be uploaded (imagine how many photos there are!) before I can proceed with the DIY section.
Since it’s taking so long I’ll just tease you with a glimpse of what I’ll be posting about
What a beautiful Sunday it is today. The sun is shining and the photos from Tania’s wedding are now available:). Lovely colours and tone all around. Looking back at the photos brings back all the lovely memories of the time we had at the ceremony and reception. I didn’t know which one to pick to share with you today, there was so many good photos. So I picked the ones that I though had a lot of ‘feeling ah” as my cantonese friends would say.
I found some SUPER (say it like how Frankie from one piece says it) DIY finds! I’m so excited. So super!!!
Hahahahahahahahaahha!!! Epic dance…*ehem ok back to the DIY finds. Super!!!
Adding a little DIY on your special day. I love this idea! My eyes are literally sparkling! The bride who did this did such a good job! DIY: Table numbers
If you like to make your own centerpieces for a special dinner at home or at a wedding then this could be a fantastic edition to your collection.
This is one of those DIY projects that I wished I had thought of myself. It is so simple and practical *smacks forehead~duh
I love men who can rock a stylish tie and are not afraid to mix and match the patterns. However, there is just something oh- so sexy about a skinny tie with a tux.
The DIY tutorial below was orginally from here:Ruche DIY Wall Decor. This is something that I am actually doing for my wedding and I was going to do it the hard way but this one is so much simpler!
Hi Ladies,
I’ve finally had a chance to put together this DIY post from Ruche’s first Spring lookbook. Sorry for the delay! Everything is extremely easy and can spruce up any plain wall in your home.
1. Floral wall made out of butcher paper
Stephanie got a roll of butcher paper and we were debating what do to with it. The night before the photo shoot, the Ruche team decided to make paper flowers and taped it to the wall. It was inspired by the book “paper chains and garlands” by June Gilbank that my husband picked up from Barnes and Nobles weeks before, hoping to one day use it..indeed we did! See instructions below.
We made different shaped and sized flowers out of butcher paper. For this particular wall, we covered the wall with butcher paper first, and then taped the flowers to it. This method could be used on a smaller scale and can be framed in a boxed picture frame too! You can also mix it up with different colored papers. BE CREATIVE!
I attended the lovely ceremony and dinner reception of Tania and King at Stamford Hotel in Auckland. It was a very graceful and joyful event. The theme of the wedding was Spring with bold dashes of yellow and cream and a hint of green. It was an emotionally charged affair with the bride and groom having many teary moments together during the speeches from family and close friends. One couldn’t possibly miss the little glances they gave each other which were full of love and excitement! I’m waiting for the professional photos before I share this wedding with you but I just couldn’t wait so I picked a photo or two from Kevin’s and Denise’s facebook to share with you.
Believe it or not those pretty shoes consist of plain grey-blue high heels and a blue scarf. How creative!

Remember the last post on DIY: Papier Mache lights? Well I found a vintage flower lights and they look pretty awesome if your into vintage and shabby chic styles. DIY: Paper Flower Lights
Ever since I found out that the church I am getting married in does not allow confetti and glitter, I sadly deleted all my DIY links for flower/paper/rice/blooms/fabric confetti. Dashing my hopes to exit the Church doors in a flurry of said things bring thrown into my face. I deleted all but one! This was just to cute not too keep! DIY: Butterfly rice tosser
This was one of the pictures made me decide to do a fan program for my church ceremony. Am busy working with my mum and a church worker to get the template and wording sorted out (so tedious, I know). This is not an ordinary program/fan the person who made this was so creative and I wish I had thought of it myself. Click on the link to see what I’m talking about. DIY: Fan Program
